Congratulations to all our nominees in the 2015 Vocational Rehabilitation Awards.  We had a great response to this year’s awards and the judges had both an enjoyable and challenging time reviewing the nominations to select our finalists who are shown below.  

We will be announcing the award winners at our CPD event on Monday 14th December and will publish the names shortly afterwards.  We plan to run articles here on all our finalists over the coming months.

VR Research and Education

The VRA is delighted to release this Self-audit Guidance Package which supports its standards audit tool and it Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Vocational Rehabilitation Practitioners 

The Multidisciplinary Association of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (MASCIP) will be developing vocational rehabilitation guidelines for spinal cord injury rehabilitation, in 2015.  They would like to hear from you if you are interested to contribute in some way – please to express your interest or to suggest someone else, please usewith VRA website enquiry in the subject line.

Mind is calling for all people with mental health problems to be taken off mainstream Government back-to-work schemes and moved onto a specialist programme.

Research from the mental health charity has found that support provided through the Work Programme and Jobcentre Plus is damaging people’s health and making them feel less able to work than when they started. At the same time, these schemes are ineffective for people with mental health problems, as only 5 per cent of people have actually been helped into work.
